about

A first-time experiment between Kevin Butler (Dallas), Parham Daghighi (Austin by way of Houston) and Steve Jansen (Austin by way of Houston by way of Phoenix) produced this debut recording during Christmas time 2012 in Houston, Texas.

"Good" is a distorted fucked jazz bomb of vexatious saxophone, overblown cassette-tape-like-captured-quality drums, and screwy cover-band-at-a-biker-bar-type guitar.

"Slouch" slows down the pace 4,999 miles an hour while still keeping the ambient collage of electronics -- ranging from iPhone apps to tape manipulations -- serious and serious to listen to.

The beautiful artwork for the cassette, manufactured in a run of 33 copies, was created by Daghighi in sets of four or five, which means there are multiple covers to choose from.

"The idea behind the art was simple: to create colorful, individual inserts on a theme (posture/spinal curvature)," writes Daghighi. "The inserts were colored with chalk...[and] then painted on with a blue liquid wax paint. The ambiguous blue figures are, in fact, intended to be spines. Then, small, geometric cutouts made from fast food napkin drawings that I made between 2010 and 2011 were glued atop the chalky wax.

"The second component is the white label on the A/B side of each tape. 'POSTURE' is spelled out phonetically on these labels in Persian language and sides are labeled آ and ب (A and B, respectively). The labels were then stained with various pre-steeped tea leaves and a thorny rose stem."
